I’ve been using Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place eyeliner in Forest for years as many (aka cheap) eyeliners irritated my eyes. I’d stock up during Estee Lauder bonus days offering free gifts with purchase.
Forest seemed to be the perfect color for my hazel eyes.
And then Estee Lauder switched up their color offerings on me! Was I seriously the only one that used Forest?
I gave Estee Lauder the benefit of the doubt and ordered some of the new colors to test out since I knew I liked their formula, but I didn’t like colors:
- Emerald Volt – too bright green
- Sapphire – too blue
- Coffee – too brown
- Night Violet – too purple
I then turned to Ebay and only one scalper had Forest for sale for $40 – I was desperate, but not stupid.
I tried Arbonne It’s A Fine Liner Pencil Eye Liner in Sage (since I get a discount on Arbonne), but I didn’t like the texture.
So then I turned to a Facebook group for beauty bloggers for recommendations.
I got eyeliner recommendations for Mac, Nars, Urban Decay, Lancome, Marc Jacobs, Mufe, Beauty Bakery, and Bobbi Brown. I checked every one of them out and narrowed it down to try:
- MAC Pro Longwear Eyeliner in Devotion, $21
- Bobbie Brown Long-Wear Eye Pencil in Hunter, $26
- Lancome Le Crayon Khol Eyeliner in Moss, $26
- Lancome Le Stylo Waterproof Long Lasting Eyeliner in Ivy, $27
I ordered from Nordstrom.com as separate orders as they offer free shipping and three free samples with every order.
And the eyeliner winner to replace my Estee Lauder Forest eye pencil is….
(drum roll)
MAC Pro Longwear Eyeliner in Devotion! And it was the least expensive of the bunch so that’s a bonus!
Bobbie Brown came in a close second, but the pencil is “too soft” and broke on my first application, so I had to keep that into consideration. That made for easier application, but it didn’t appear as waterproof as MAC.
