Something Sweet – Fruity Sangria
This fruity sangria recipe is perfect for any Valentine’s Day gathering! It only requires 5 ingredients: 750ml bottle of white wine (preferably Pinot Grigio), 1 cup fresh orange juice, 1/3 cup brandy, ½ cup sliced strawberries, ½ cup raspberries. You can also substitute strawberries and raspberries with any other fruits such as oranges, lemons, limes, watermelon, blueberries, peaches, or apples.
In a large pitcher combine all ingredients except fruit slices. Stir until combined then add in fruit slices. Let chill overnight before serving over ice. Garnish with mint leaves. If you are expecting a baby, you can easily turn these into pregnancy mocktails by simply leaving out the brandy and using sparkling water instead of wine.
A Bit Bold – Spicy Margarita
If you are looking for something bolder this Valentine’s Day then look no further than this Spicy Margarita recipe! You will need 2 ounces tequila (a good Reposado tequila works best), ¾ ounce orange liqueur (like Grand Marnier or Cointreau), 1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice, 1 teaspoon agave nectar and ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper powder.
Shake all ingredients together with plenty of ice until cold and strain into glass over fresh ice cubes. Finish by adding pinch ground cayenne pepper on top as garnish or rim glass if desired. To make this into a mocktail simply leave out the tequila and orange liqueur and double up on orange juice instead.
Strawberry Sparkler
This delicious Strawberry Sparkler is the perfect way to celebrate Valentine’s Day! Combine 2 ounces of vodka with ½ cup fresh or frozen strawberries, 2 teaspoons of sugar and ¼ cup sparkling white wine in a blender. Blend until the strawberries are completely broken down then strain into a glass. Add ice, garnish with a few fresh strawberries, and enjoy! For the mocktail version, swap out the sparkling white wine with non-alcoholic sparkling wine or champagne and omit the vodka by doubling up on the non-alcoholic sparkling wine or champagne.
Remember, strawberries are an aphrodisiacs, so you may want to pull out the homemade sexy lingerie.
The Classic – Gin & Tonic
Nothing says “Valentine’s Day” like a classic gin and tonic! All you need is 2 ounces of your favorite gin (we recommend Hendricks), 4 ounces of tonic water, 2 lime wedges, and ice cubes. Fill your glass with ice cubes, pour in the gin and top it off with tonic water. Squeeze in one of the lime wedges and give it a stir. Garnish with the other lime wedge and enjoy!
For a nonalcoholic version, simply swap out the gin for an additional 4 ounces of tonic water, although tonic water alone is not the best tasting, so you may want to try out a different mocktail recipe for the non-drinkers.
